2024 Central Indiana Tennis Awards

Each year the USTA Midwest District honors dedicated individuals and organizations for their service and support of the District’s mission to grow, develop and service the sport of tennis. It only takes a few minutes and It can be your Teammates, Captains, Partners, fellow Players or whoever you think.

There are six different awards you can choose from so nominate someone special and make them a superstar!

Distinctive Service Award

This award recognizes the volunteer who has made the greatest contribution to tennis in the Central Indiana District. Typically, this person would have been actively involved in distinctive service for five or more years. This award was created in recognition of Stan Malless.

Team Captain of the Year

Given to a USTA Central Indiana League Captain who 1) Excels as a captain, player and supporter of the USTA League program; 2) Demonstrates honesty, sincerity, loyalty, good sportsmanship and leadership; and 3) Is committed to growing tennis. This award was created in recognition to Joe Graham.

Volunteer of the Year

This award is given to an individual within the Central Indiana Tennis District who continually strives to promote tennis, primarily on the local level. Typical activities would include service on local/district committees and volunteer activities to promote and grow the game of tennis. This award was created in recognition of Rick Van Horn.

Junior Player Award - Boys

Given to the outstanding junior male player who best exhibits a high degree of sportsmanship and playing ability, an excellent mental attitude and who works to promote the game of tennis. This award was created in recognition of Wilbur Schumacher.

Junior Player Award - Girls

Given to the outstanding junior male player who best exhibits a high degree of sportsmanship and playing ability, an excellent mental attitude and who works to promote the game of tennis. This award was created is recognition of Wilbur Schumacher.

Junior Advocate Award

This award recognizes a volunteer within the Central Indiana Tennis District who continually strives to promote youth tennis, primarily at the local level. Typical activities would include those who have started new tennis programs or run after-school or off-season tennis programs. This award was created in recognition of Brad Holmes.

Girls Junior Award closes on May 16th due to spring season!
